I am a researcher, writer, and academic with interests in television (particularly cooking shows), popular music, and cultural and media studies. I have published peer-reviewed articles on television cooking shows, film, literary theory, and cultural studies, and co-authored a mass-market book on memetics. See my comprehensive list of publications here.
I have taught tertiary level courses in cultural studies, communication, new media, literary theory, and critical theory, and presented at international conferences around Australia. Full details of my teaching and other work experience here.
I was, for five and a half years from 2005, Project Officer for the ARC Cultural Research Network, overseeing the research activities of over 70 academics in 21 Australian institutions.
I am currently actively researching topics in film documentary, cultural heritage and cultural value, and the importance of place as a signifier of authenticity. Read about my current research here.
